Meldon Law will join the Alzheimer’s Association Central and North Florida Chapter as the 2022 Walk to End Alzheimerās presenting sponsor in Gainesville.
āMy wife, Patricia and I care for and live with her Mother, who has dementia. This cause really hits home for me and my family because we realize how much support is needed to help family members and loved ones who are suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. It is essential for us to help spread the word about this wonderful organization that supports the needs of people in our community suffering from this disease.
We are honored to chair the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s and are looking forward to another incredible turnout for this event.ā
– Attorney Jeffrey Meldon
In Alachua County alone, as many as 1 in 9 adults age 65 and up are living with Alzheimerās disease ā a leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 800,000 family members and friends statewide provide care to people living with Alzheimerās and other dementias.
On Walk day, attendees honor those affected by Alzheimerās with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony ā a mission-focused experience that signifies participantsā solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the Promise Garden flowers represent participantsā personal connections to Alzheimerās disease and the reasons they walk. āAlzheimerās affects the lives of so many people across this country, including 580,000 individuals here in Florida,ā said Jessica Marshall, executive director for the Alzheimerās Association Central and North Florida Chapter. āAt the Walk to End Alzheimerās, with every step we take and every dollar we raise, we know we are that much closer to a world without Alzheimerās and all other dementia ā and none of it would be possible without the support of local business.ā
