Born and raised in Gainesville, Carey returned home after earning his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary—where he was a Division I varsity athlete—and his law degree from Stetson University College of Law. His legal path was inspired by his grandfather, Maurice Wagner, a fellow Stetson alum and respected attorney who presented Carey with his diploma and helped instill the values that define his practice today.

Carey’s commitment to clients extends beyond the courtroom. He serves on the Board of the Florida Justice Association, where he advocates for policies that protect injury victims across the state.
