Is your most precious cargo buckled up safely?

The National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHTSA) reports that 4 out of 5 kids (80%) are improperly restrained. So, how can you be sure?

September 12-18, 2009, is National Child Passenger Safety Week, and it highlights Baby Safety Month.  As an experienced accident attorney in North Central Florida, I join the NHTSA in challenging parents to check out their child's safety seat on National Seat Check Saturday and to follow their recommendations for keeping their child passengers safe at all times.

Schedule your inspection with Safe Kids of North Central Florida on National Seat Check Saturday, September 12, 2009, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at Jonesville Fire Station no. 17.

The NHTSA reminds parents there are four steps for kid safety as they grow:

  1. Rear-facing car seat;
  2. Forward-facing car seat;
  3. Booster seat; and
  4. Safety belt restraint.

Expectant parents are urged to install a rear-facing seat at least 3 weeks before their babies' due date - the hospital won't let you go home without one.

Restrain and buckle up your children properly and do it every time, on every ride!
