Charge: DUI

DUI and Criminal Defense

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Officer stopped a vehicle after observing the driver turn without using a turn signal. The officer requested that the driver walk to the patrol car and noted that the driver staggered and exhibited bloodshot and watery eyes. The driver smelled of alcohol and was wearing a green wristband (commonly distributed at local clubs).

The driver consented to field sobriety exercises. During the walk-and-turn, she had difficulty maintaining her balance and repeatedly stepped on her toes while performing the heel-to-toe pattern. She used her arms to maintain balance during the one-leg stand and failed to keep her eyes closed or touch the tip of her nose with her finger during the finger-to-nose test.

The driver was arrested for DUI and upon hiring Meldon Law pled to the reduced charge of Reckless Driving with Alcohol.
