Alachua County Driver Driving with a Suspended License Charge Dropped

A Gainesville Police Department Officer observed a Jeep traveling on Northwest 6th Street traveling at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop. The officer made contact with the driver and discovered that she had a suspended license based on a prior DUI offense. The officer issued her a citation for driving with a suspended, canceled, or revoked driver’s license with knowledge which is a criminal offense and punishable by up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.

The driver hired Meldon Law. The attorneys at Meldon Law reviewed the discovery and the driver’s license history. The attorney was able to assist the driver in obtaining a valid license and was also able to show that the driver was eligible and was operating her motor vehicle within the restrictions of a business purpose license even though she did not have one. Ultimately based on negotiations with the prosecutor the attorney was able to get the charge dropped.
