Wi-Fi Offered in Cars....?

General Motors, in an effort to bring the information age from the superhighway to the actual highway, is now offering a specially designed Wi-Fi service in their centerpiece Cadillac CTS sports sedan.

Using cellular phone signals, the system uses cell towers to channel the internet access to the vehicle, creating a hotspot similar to visiting the local Starbucks or Panera Bread, right from the car.

The service is a completely aftermarket offer from Cadillac, not to be installed during manufacture, and costs $499 in addition to a monthly charge that can reach $59 with excessive usage.

Other car companies, such as Ford and Chrysler are also offering aftermarket systems that contain Wi-Fi for their vehicles, acting as both texting and phone devices as well as routers for internet access.
