A high-speed tire blow out on I-75, causing a rollover accident, resulted in one death and injuries to six passengers, ranging from serious to critical.
On July 10, 2011, the driver of a 2002 GMC Yukon lost control of the vehicle after a catastrophic tire blow out near the Williston Road exit on I-75. Five of the eight passengers were ejected.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, several passengers failed to wear seatbelts, including a 63 year old woman who died at Shand's Hospital and 2 children ages 4 and 9 who were listed in critical condition.
The family from Norcross, Ga., was driving north when the truck's rear tire exploded, causing the vehicle to rollover multiple times, coming to rest upright in the outer emergency lane. The driver and a 13-year-old passenger received minor injuries. Four other passengers were listed in serious condition.
