Running Intersection Turned Dangerous

Two pickup trucks collided in an intersection of CR 131 and CR 18 in Columbia County last Thursday evening. The driver of one of the trucks, Gary Driers, is in serious condition and the passenger of his car is in critical condition. Both were taken to Gainesville for medical care after the crash. The driver of the other truck, Hilary Parker, and her two passengers had only minor injuries.

The accident occurred when Driers, who, along with his passenger, was not wearing a seat belt, failed to stop before entering the intersection and collided with Parker, who was unable to stop and avoid the crash.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, there is a possibility that alcohol was involved, contributing to the severity of the accident. Improper use of the intersection also led to the accident.
