One dead, two injured in Belleview accident.

Two people were injured and one person was killed Wednesday, June 17^th,  in a head-on collision near Belleview. According to bystanders, a Dodge van driven by Randy Dodge, 44, veered into the path of a GMC box van carrying Thomas and Carmen Martinez.

The Martinezes, who were both wearing safety belts at the time of the crash, survived the accident and were transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville for medical treatment. Dodge, who was not wearing a safety belt, was found dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on County Road 25 in Marion County. The accident was severe enough to flip the box truck onto the side of the highway, while the van was pushed to the other side of the highway. The Dodge van was so badly mangled that Marion County Fire Rescue workers were forced to cut into the vehicle to remove the body of Randy Dodge, who was killed in the crash.

The crash marked the 35th automobile fatality of the year in Marion County.
