Oct 19th to 23rd is National School Bus Safety Week. This year's theme is Avoid Harm, Obey the Stop Arm.
The purpose of this week, in part, is to remind drivers to drive cautiously around school buses, obey the law and stop when a bus's lights are on and its flag and arm goes out.
National studies have shown that school buses are one of the safest ways for students to travel to and from school. The most dangerous part of a school bus ride for a child is getting on and off the bus.
This is a week for all drivers to reminded of the importance of paying attention when driving around school buses and know the law for when they are required to stop!
