National Safety Commission issues alert for managing blind spots.

Posted on Jul 06, 2009

The National Safety Commission recently issued an alert for drivers to check all directions before changing lanes. Due to blind spots on vehicles, sideswipe collisions occur frequently. The NSA reports that 826,000 vehicles are involved in these lane-changing accidents every year.

Blind spots can also affect the area behind your car, leading to backing up over something or someone. Kids and Cars,  a nonprofit organization, believes blinds spots behind cars is a serious problem, evidenced by the average of two children every week that are struck by cars backing up.

For more information on safety measures you can take to avoid sideswiping another vehicle while driving or backing over something or someone due to blind spots to the side and rear of your vehicle, please see, Tips For Drivers on How to Manage Blind Spots. or visit the National Safety Commission's alert page on this topic.
