
With the 70th annual Daytona Beach Bike Week soon to begin, Florida bikers have something to celebrate-less fatalities for the third, consecutive year that exceed the falling national average.
After peaking in 2006 (521), fatalities fell to 376 deaths in 2009, representing an approximate 30% decrease over three years, according to the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle's 2009 Crash Report. To compare, biker fatalities fell nationwide in 2009 by 10%, according to the Governor's Highway Safety Association.
