Last night tragedy occurred in Alachua at the intersection of Hwy 441 and I-75, when a motor home driver, who was cited for violation of right away, turned in front of a motorcycle, killing the driver of the bike and leaving his passenger in critical condition.
As an accident attorney and friend of the deceased, I would like to send my sincerest sympathy to Elmo Moser's family and his many friends.
I would also like to take this time to remind everyone on the road to take precautions and expect the unexpected and to not just twice but three times, before turning or changing lanes; take the extra time required to look for motorcycles, bicyclists, pedestrians, scooters, small cars, etc.
I am sure the driver of the motor home had no intention of hurting anyone when she began her turn on to the Interstate. However, statistics are that the majority of motorcycle crashes are with vehicles whose drivers' state, "I just never saw them".
No one wants to experience a tragedy like this whether you are the victim or the driver at fault. So, please everyone, don't just look twice, but three times, and look for the smaller that vehicles that are often hard to see that we share the road with.
